Big size difference here. We'll see what SB has to say but I wouldn't be surprised to see it go back to an SB exhibition.

Leslie cuts to make 135, so she'll have no problem if its around 140.....prediction: Leslie by TKO in round 1.

HIROKO is 5'11" and I doubt they would ask her to cut to 140 on short notice. Saeki would not be likely to allow it.

Mad Leslie just posted this on her FB page:

Leslie Smith - They scratched the fight. I'm a little salty they took this long to let me know, but I guess it was fun thinking I was going to get to fight in Japan. Maybe I was too tall? LOL, it certainly wasn't because I was too far away or asking for too much money!

F.

Hiroko's fight/exhibition/participation has been scrapped entirely then or are they going to try to scramble for something? I don't know anybody at Shoot Boxing, so I don't have anyone to ask. Bah.

I bet Saeki nixed it. Not surprised. Too much of a size difference. Nothing on the SB site or anywhere else. They did an open workout with Fuuka yesterday. They won't bother trying to find anyone now. It's too late. Nothing good can come from desperation like this.

Little-known fact that nobody (including me until a few minutes ago) seems to know about:

Hiroko weighed in at just 141 pounds when she fought Atsuko Emoto in May. That's even lower than the 143 for the rematch with Hitomi Akano in March. I had thought that the fight with Atsuko was at a higher weight, but no. Very impressed with Hiroko's new dedication to cutting weight properly so she can fight in the much larger and more competitive 145-pound division. She deserves a lot of credit for that.

Her fight on the Shoot Boxing card might be off, but I'm looking into something else. We'll see.

Here is another photo she is the one with the belt -

She is an Aussie and is #1 ranked in the world in the 63 kg division in Muay Thai. She is on Master Toddy's Tuff Girls Australia, which just finished taping last week. (I will start a new topic so you can see the trailers.)

It wasn't the first time. She made weight against Akano too. And that was the first time she ever had to make weight because previous matches were Open Weight.

I have chronicled the history of this foolishness on my blog.
