Roxy,
This is long, so hold on lol Although you didn't win, you showed what the sport of MMA needs more of: Gutsy, Tough, Tenacious Warrior female athletes who will fight anytime, anywhere and anyone. We have talked a few times over the years & iv always felt for you bc you have wanted nothing more than to compete in the sport you love.
You did the best you could with what you were given and you went out on a limb and took a big chance. Anything can happen in MMA and there is always the possibility of either side winning. You stepped up to the plate, and even though you didn't win, you have nothing to be ashamed of.
IMO I don't like seeing true 135ers having to come up in weight because they have NO other options. Its not right & its not always fair, but I commend you on being one of the few, true, competitive real athletes in womens MMA who always takes on any challenge or challenger.
I hope that SF sees the sacrifice that you and a few others have made for them, and that this shows your dedication to MMA. The 145 is such a tricky division bc bigger girls have to cut & smaller girls have to bulk up. There aren't too many true 145ers, even lol
I wanna see more of the women who deserve to be signed to a big promotion like Roxy, Meisha, Tanya, Lana & other great Japanese MMAers. Its hard to know there are so many women who deserve to fight that are sitting on the sidelines waiting and waiting and waiting.
The women need to lobby for their rights to compete & get fair pay, as well. I hate seeing girls being used one time as last min replacements (in any organizations) & then we never see them again; it sucks.
Well, as for me, I had my follow up doc appt the other day & ill be fine very shortly. MMA Weekly did an interview which explained my issue...I wanted to keep it private, but some were speculating "weight" which is why I wanted to explain. I was roughly 13 lb over 2.5 weeks prior & I coulda dropped that in one night if I had to lol SF has my medical documents, so im sure ill be ready to go in no time...in over ten years as a pro, iv fought countless times when injured or sick, and have pulled out of 2 or 3 fights, tops, bc it was something serious. Ii take my health very serious & can't afford for something traumatic to happen.
The sport will always have new, fresh faces, which is wonderful, but I also wanna know that those women have a true love for the sport. MMA is not easy, & it seems a lot of people are getting involved bc its "in" right now & they wanna get on TV. Nothing wrong w TV, but I just want real athletes, not wannabes.
So congrats again, Mama! I hope to see you competitng in YOUR division very soon

Can not wait for you to get back in the cage and we all here are huge supporters of Roxy. She was brave to take the fight on short notice and giving three pounds to Marloes, and with all the press she did here, they would be stupid not to sign her to the 135 pound division.
Heal up well Erin - you will be coming in bigger and stronger when you get the title shot. |

Great post Erin. Good luck to you.
Roxanne, you are awesome. SF would be crazy not to sign you. You are very very marketable in my eyes.
Moody, unless there is something more to this that I dont know about, I dont see how that can be viewed as a cheap shot? It is a figure of speech as far as Im concerned... |

Yep, I took the time to write a long, gracious letter to someone who should be recognized. But, I threw in a (not even blatant, might I add) "Cheap Shot"? lol Moody, you must be trolling, right?
Clearly, I dont hide behind a computer to talk shit or say something well deserved. Im Black & White; absolutely no gray in my opinions. PLEASE dont be an IDIOT and ruin this thread, OK?

Roxanne weighed in at 140, Marloes weighed in at 145.
From standing next to both of them after the fight, my guess is Roxanne was still right around 140 or so and Marloes was probably at about 155.
So, I'd say that you're pretty much dead-on. _________________ http://www.mmarising.com |

Thank you, Erin. I'm really touched by your post. Really...thank you!
(Moody, I know you were poking fun , and I didn't even notice the 'out on a limb' thing. Don't worry! It's cool...) |

LOL Id consider myself going "out on a limb" taking a fight on that short notice; whether I KOd them or not. Too me, thats what it means. Marloes is a top fighter & no one can ever be taken lightly. Im sure that clears it up lol _________________ Fight - or shut the hell up. |
