hello
i am new to martial arts, but i been in a few street fights.

i am not a trouble maker though,

my question is, do i need to wear groin prtection during training or even competition?

i notice none of the mma girl wear protection in their shorts.

since it is illegal to strike the groin or is it.

i mean you won't get a chance to put a jill on before a street fight anyway.

what is your opinion?

yes groin strikes are illegal. I think the wearing of groin protection for women who compete in MMA is optional. I could be wrong. It could differ depending on the organization/region/athletic comission

Groin protection is optional...and yes groin hits are illegal...however..It can happen and take it from me..it may not give you to the count of 8 before you are on the ground in fetal position like a man but it hurts all the same. Key lesson learned here...dont kick with a right if your opponent is kicking with a right at the same time...especially if he is male and is not wearing footgear. That big toe um...does hurt.... Needless to say I did wince with that hit...to play it off since I am the only woman..I said, "Dayum, next time I will wear my cup cuz you aimed for my nuts man." They laughed and I gained a lil more respect. hehe

Century makes female protection for the groin and panties to use it with, plus they have bras and plastic inserts to protect the breasts.

haha NO JOKE...i mean, we dont have nuts there but since theres pretty much solid bone...it hurts. plus, you can get bruised ovaries and whatnot, but ive never worn any of that stuff. i cant stand the cup bras and the pad was just cumbersome to me, but ill probably pay for it someday. as far as anything ive ever competed in, it has been optional..
